Meet Lisa Scott

Founder of Accentuate Communication

About Me

I’m a communication strategist and executive coach who helps scientists, researchers, data professionals, and technical leaders translate complex work into clear, compelling messages that drive understanding and action. I work with pharmaceutical scientists preparing FDA presentations, analysts briefing non-technical executives, academic researchers presenting high-stakes findings, and organizational leaders who need their teams to truly understand—not just receive—what’s being said.

What matters most to me isn’t polishing a performance. It’s helping your message land, especially when decisions, credibility, and momentum are on the line.

I’m particularly experienced in working with professionals whose expertise is often underestimated or misunderstood: women and underrepresented leaders in STEM, internationally trained experts navigating accent bias, and neurodivergent communicators—especially those with ADHD or autism-spectrum traits—who think in nonlinear, highly original ways. These individuals don’t need to be “fixed.” They need communication systems that respect how they think and allow their ideas to come through with clarity and authority.

The Work in Practice

My approach is intentionally integrative. I don’t treat communication as a set of surface-level skills layered onto existing work. Drawing on neuroscience, vocal technique, and cognitive load science, I help align how people think, speak, and show up under pressure with how their audiences process information. When that alignment is in place, communication becomes more efficient, more confident, and far more effective—for individuals and for the organizations they serve.

I've worked privately with executives and researchers from organizations including Microsoft, Harvard Medical School, Vanguard, and Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and I'm a repeat presenter at national scientific conferences including the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists, Women in Statistics and Data Science, and DIA. The work translates across industries because the challenge is fundamentally the same: how do you communicate specialized knowledge in ways that drive decisions and action?

Beyond the Work

This work requires presence, and I have found what restores mine.

Outside of my work, I’m grounded by contrast. New cultures and travel experiences light up my soul, but so does sitting quietly by my koi pond with my morning coffee, reflecting before the day begins. And yes—it’s true: I once literally sold seashells by the seashore in Virginia Beach, where I grew up. These days I’m landlocked in Tennessee, but the ocean still calls me back.
